Sanding Hardwood Floors with the Cimex Diamond Finisher
A Brief Introduction to Hardwood Sanding & The Diamond Finisher.
There are basically two types of floor sanding machines in use today; Drum sanders and orbital sanders. With it’s three disk, counter planetary motion head, the Cimex Diamond Finisher is considered the latter.
While drum sanders are certainly powerful machines, they can be difficult for homeowners trying to do the job themselves. Many who have attempted to use them quickly found out how aggressive they are and end up deeply gouging or scratching the wood surface. Cimex machines are considerably easier to use, offer more control of the sanding process and are less physically taxing.
The labor is done by the weight of the machine itself as opposed to the self applied pressure of a drum sander. This means that there is far less exertion involved when maneuvering the Diamond Finisher. Most anyone can operate one, as the machine is extremely stable with virtually no swinging or swaying that single headed orbitals exhibit.

An important point to consider is the grit of the sandpaper for the job at hand. A lower grit rating means more aggressive sanding. There are 5 variations available for the Cimex Diamond Finisher:
40 Grit Sand Paper Pads – Very aggressive finishing
60 Grit Sand Paper Pads – Aggressive finishing
80 Grit Sand Paper Pads – Moderate finishing
100 Grit Sand Paper Pads – Light finishing
120 Grit Sand Paper Pads – Very light finishing
